I just picked up a 93 le for my daughter. I need to replace the tires. Tires on it now are 205/65R15 Speed rating H. I believe the original OEM tires were "H".
Would it be ok to replace with a speed rating of "T" or should I stick to "H".
Thanks..
V6 engine, I'm guessing? I'm pretty sure '93 4-bangers came with 14" tires.
You'll get lots of opinions on this. You're correct about the original tires being H-rated. I've run T rated tires for many, many sets on both my Cam and my Avy with no issues. T rated tires are good for 118 MPH, which, according to Wikipedia: "It indicates the maximum permitted speed that the tire can sustain for a ten minute endurance without being in danger."

Thanks,
I ending up buying the "H" speed rating. They were only $8 more per tire,
BF Goodrich P205/65R 92H Touring T/A Pro. Tread looked better on the "H".
Now I can go 130 mph!!!!!
The H may look better, but did you take in consideration how many miles the tires are rated for? There only $8 more but they are probably rated for 20,000 less than the T. Secondly Wikpedia is wrong on the duration the tire can run for. Speed ratings are based on laboratory tests: a tire is pressed against a large diameter metal drum to reflect its appropriate load, and run at ever increasing speeds (in 6.2 mph steps in 10 minute increments) until the tire's required speed has been met. And just FYI you have to take into consideration the difference between a H and T goes into sidewall construction also. ie cornering abilities. Also depending where you live a H rated tire is usually not very effective for winter driving.

That's exactly the tires I ran on my Camry the previous set. Sam's club, right? I didn't realize they sold the same-named tire in both H and T ratings when I bought them; I ended up with the H's. I wasn't really pleased with the tread life; got about 32k miles out of them. Now I'm running the T rated tires on both the Cam and the Avalon. I can't say I noticed any difference in the Camry, handling-wise, between the H's and T's. But then again I don't drive the ol' girl very hard. Mileage-wise, it's too soon to tell if the T's are any better.

Yeah, sams club. got the H's for 279 out the door. There rated for 10k less treadlife than the t's (60k vs 70k).
They do say they are very good for winter driving (all season). My daughter will not be racking up a lot mialeage so I'm not too concerned with the mileage.
If the car was for me I would have got the T's. If anything happened to the car with my daughter driving because of the the tires with not the OEM specified, it would be tough to live with.
BTW, I checked the date code and Sam's checks also before installing. Very important!!!!
Thanks for all the responses.
