Shaved Door Handles

Hey guys,

I'm thinkig about going ahead and shaving my door handles. Which of the two methods do you think are best?

1. Buying one of those pre-cut handles "skins" kit that is then welded on to where the handle used to be

or

2. Removing the door handle and filling that area

Thanx a bunch guys for the feedback

i would never attempt it by myself, but i dont know how talented you are with body mods...

also are you aware that at many carshows having shaved door handles places you in the wild category?

As long as you can weld .060 metal to itself without warping it, do it yourself, it is easy enough.
Or get someone at a good body shop.

I am trying to figure out if I want to make metal fender flares, but I am not That good of a welder, all my panels would be buggered

I had a local place quote me almost $2,000 to shave all 4 door handles That's a lot of money I still want to shave them, it would make my car look a lot more sleeker

hey guys thanx for the suggestions. I prolly wont' be weldin it myself but instead get a friend of mine to do it. and then i would take care of the after processes.

I didnt' knwo that about shaved door handles (wild category) guess that jsuts means i'll ahve to add more mods! lol

wow $2000 jsut to shave the door handles??? did that include paint as well and the door poppers and everything? Cuz then it doesn't seem as bad, although its still too much.

its not that hard just start practicing welding first ....exspecially thin gauge because your doors will pop easy after to much heat or to many welds at one time or too clost together! BTW just take the handle off and trace that shap on some sheet metal and cut it.

buy a damaged hood(so they can't reallt charge you) from any toy and practice with that. then you'll have enough for all the doors, ant. hole, washer holes, and anywhere else you want

use metal shears and then to refine them use a dremmel with a heavy duty cutting bit then smooth it out with a grinder

you get door poppers with solenoids and a remote. its like having a keyless remote but taking it to the next level cuz it actually pops the door open for you.
