Overhead lights not working

I tried to replace the bulb in my overhead light with a blue Xenon Lightning White bulb by Cyber White. My problem is that the bulb is a 12V 10W and I am pretty sure my 98 camry uses 8W bulbs. Well being the smart person I am I tried it anyways. When I was putting the new bulb in I touched something with the screwdriver and saw a spark. Now I cant get either the new bulb or the old one to work. Did I burn out a fuse? If so can someone please give me some help on where to get a new one and how to install it? Otherwise, what is wrong? Is there any way I can get this blue bulb to work even though its not the right rating? Thanks in advance.

overhead lights, im assuming is ur dome lights??? if so, yea u most likely blew out a fuse, all you have to do is open ur hood, and look at the fuse box, should be by ur battery, on the fuse box it should have a picture and say where the fuse for the dome light is, if i remember correctly, i believe its 12v fuse or 15, then just go to autozone or somewhere and just get it for like 2 dollar for a box

ok, but is there any way I can get the 10W to work even though I think it takes 8W? Do I have to buy a new bulb?

Interesting thread... My dome light only works sometimes, say 3/10 times I'll open the door and it lights up, so I think it's the light itself if it was the fuse it would work none of the time...

Sucks getting in a dark car at night... you never know who's around...

does anyone know if I can use this 10W bulb to replace the 8W stock bulb? I want to use the blue one cause I think it will look much cooler with the blue neons that I already have, but I dont want to burn out more fuses. Also, now a large number of my electrical systems arent working when the keys arent inserted. Is this all from the one fuse that burnt out?

you've blown your dome lamp fuse, its in the fuse box LH side of engine compartment, its a 7.5 amp. fuse, next to the 15 amp. EFI fuse, the bulb should be fine, just brighter and hotter but no longer then a dome lamp is on it should be fine, the dome lamp not always working is a dirty door switch, needs cleaned.pull back rubber cover , loosen 10mm bolt and clean with contact or brake cleaner. hope this helps.
