totally futzed my air sensor plug

here are the specifications on my car:
'91 Camry DX, 4 cylinder, no mods

here's the problem:
i pulled this out:

yesterday, my friends and i build a cold air intake but we accidently removed the air sensor plug(dont have pictures) adn there are an assload of wires(like 6 and some of them are bent to hell)

i pushed it back in not thinking it would be an issue but the car never stared. we put the stock air filter back on and still no luck.

we think it is a problem with that plug or the leads inside of that metal box that connects to the air filter box.

if anyone has any ideas then please post them.

thanks a bunch guys!

(if anyone has teh chiltons repair manual for the 91 camry dx, i would much appreciate it if you scanned in the pages that relate to the intake and filter and air sensor)

either open in up and soder the connections back together, or go get a "new" one at a junkyard for about 50$

I'd follow Oldman's advice and go to the junkyard. If you wanna get the AFM for really cheap just do a friendly five finger discount. A whole dollar for a AFM doesn't sound to bad to me.

Go to the junkyard and buy or steal the entire metal box, and you may need to get a new plug too. If it doesn't open then that's a big prob.

someone already gave you the advice you need...

actrually i fixed it with some of my friends.
we popped up the MAFM black cap and positioned the wires. it runs.

we then modified my cai into a short-ram because the pipe we were using had a bunch of tiny holes(note: never use dryer hosing)

sounds like i have a rice-grinder muffler in my engine

dude... i did that once. had to drop 75 bucks on a "new" one at a junkyard, after panicking and... stuff. boy was i relieved when i found one. the car wouldnt start for crap, and the prongs were all bent outta shape and hanging off. i really fubared that one. it was a really valuable lesson though, and im glad i only paid 75 to learn it instead of 400+ that the dealer wanted. youre lucky, you learned for free!

the correct way to remove the plug is NOT to unscrew those screws... theyre really decieving. theres actually a thin metal (i think its metal) clip around the plug, just remove that and pull it off.
