Electrical help

Hi,my wife just aquired a 1991 Toyota Camery le(lots of miles)...car ran nice untill a day ago,she was backing out of a parking spot, hit the breaks, and the car stalled, she tried to start it but had no power,no lights, the auto seatbelt would not go back, nothing, she called me and I went to help.

here is what I found out,,when I hit the hazzerds it would make a buzzing noise,I would try turning on the lights, nothing, the longer a toyed with things, more noises would appear,I then turn on the lights with the ignition on,I would get no sounds,I then turn the ignition off,i would get a buzzing sound, then all of a sudden the auto seat belt retracted,I then hit the hazzerds again and got a noise from where the emergancy break is located,if i touched on the break peddle the sound would go away,I can't get any lights to work, not break or headlights, clock dosn't work, but there is some type of power,as the light saying door open is on,and get a "keys in ignition beebing".........now I pulled all fusses from inside, and checked all fuses under hood, and everything is fine,I can not see it as a battery problem,as it started up right away, and then died....now I did notice one thing...when I drove the car the day before,I turned the key,and there seemed to be a bit of a delay untill it turned over.

any help would be great as,this car was just a quick fix to a erresponsable kid who decided to destroy the last car.

Thanks

This really sounds like a weak battery or corroded battery connections. That last start could have taken what little jucie might have been left in the battery. I would start by checking and cleaning the connections at the battery posts/terminals themselves. Use a wire brush or purchase a cheap battery terminal cleaner at any auto parts store. All connections need to be shiny clean. If that doesn't help I would try to jump start the car. If the car starts, you now know it was a weak battery. Now you will have to find out if the battery itself or the charging system is the problem. While the car is running, I would try to drive the car to any auto parts store that offers free testing of the battery and charging system, while still on the car. I know Autozone offers this free service. Make a few phone calls to auto parts stores in your area and ask if they offer this free service.

Thanks for the thank you. Now that the car is running, I would still have the charging system checked for free at an auto parts store. Better to play it safe.
