Question Central locking continually switching on and off by itself - help needed!

Hi

My Toyoya Camry '95 has developed a sudden electrical fault. There's a very loud 'tick tock' sound coming from behind the glove compartment area, then the central locking joins in by flipping itself on/off/on/off/on/off for minutes on end.

Then it takes a break. Then it starts over. The key does not need to be in the ignition for any of this to happen.

Not only does it randomly lock and unlock the doors, but I presume the battery will be a gonner after too much of this.

We have tried pulling each fuse individually in 3 different fuse boxes as an emergency workaround, but none of them stopped it. We can't find one labelled 'central locking' at all.

1. Where's the fuse?!
2. How should we proceed with diagnosing and fixing this?

(P.S. The fault began after the car spent 2 hours in extreme rain conditions, if that's relevant. It's had 3 days to dry out though, and no improvement.)

Thanks!

Yikes, hope someone else had this problem to help you. Here is pissing in the wind. Check your door switches and now the bad one wires going through firewall and any door areas to check for shorting. Good luck.

Check the wiring loom going in to each of the front doors. Grab that loom and shake it a bit to see if you can reproduce the problem. If so, open up that loom and check for broken or frayed wires and fix what you find.
