1989 3s-fe Crankcase bolts numbers

Could someone tell me if the numbers of crankcase bolts would make difference to swap my engine on 1989 camry all-trac? I searched info online but I cannot determine who is telling a right info. My local Toyota doesn't seem like know for sure. His computer showed him 6 bolts by my Vin no. But I was also informed online that 1989 was a year or so when Toyota switched 6bolts to 8bolts. Is it really matter? They perform in a different way or in a different size for frame? Also, Please recommend me which company or website I should look for a good deal, my toyota friends. Thanks for reading.

it's hard to say your best bet is to take the trans off and look at the # of bolts on the flywheel/flex plate. if you say what you're doing it might be more helpful. I'm going to assume you're going to replace the 3sfe with another 3sfe if that's the case you'll only need a new flywheel/flexplate if it's not the same bolt # that's all.
