it depends on paint, qality, and shop.i live in cali.and i know my bodyshop man,so i get a deal i'm looking at 2000,for show, but that is after i already have it primed and leave little prep for them to do.
a good paint will cost 2-5 G's
It is true, you get what you pay for. I would recommend you considering, that if you are going to paint your car a different color, factor in the engine bay and anything else. These things add up in the end for the total cost. You have to paint everything that same color, more expensive.
The 400 dollar paint jobs really do not look bad at all, but they are just your basic prime, paint, clear. No specialities or anything. It depends on what you want really, what you want is what will judge the cost.
Call around to some shops and get some quotes, and if they ask you to bring it in for them to look at go ahead if you have free time. You don't have to paint it if they want too much.
good is not just based on durability, but should also include brilliance, texture, etc etc. Needless to say, a $2K paint job is undoubtedly going to look muchhhh better than a uh-oh-better-get-maaco paint job
