I just started to spray the interior of my gen4. I'm gonna make the vinyl black and the plastic molding blue. But I had a question on the cup holders and the thing in the middle. How the hell do you take them out?
Second question is: I wanna paint certain parts of my car, but the seats are in the way. Thinking about taking the seats out, but don't know how. Not sure if i can just unbolt it cause I'm not sure if there are wirings or not. If there is, I wouldn't be sure what to do so can anyone help?
Thanx in advance!

war sry i havent' gotten back to you (been crazy busy) but they just have four bolts per seat and they come right out with bracket and all. The toughest part will be the lil plastic covers that cover where the bolts are, sometimes they pop off nice and easy sometimes they don't

hey, what spray did you use for the vinyl surface? how many coats did you give it? also will the color black fade purple through time? also will it crack through time?
well, just started to do the coats today. only doing the front for now, will do the back another day. Too much taping
I used duplicolor vinyl for the vinyls and a plastic spray paint on plastic. over the plastic spray paint, i then painted blue spray paint in similar color and the coated that with a sealant.
for the vinyl, I think i did something like 3-4 coats to make sure it was nice and even with no splottchy spots. I'll post up pics of the front of the gen4 when I'm done with vinyl and plastics.

I did the same exact thing with my gen3. I used Duplicolor vinyl paint and on the plastic I used touch op paint with clearcoat. It was white with black accent. Check it out. Go to www.cardomain.com/id/projectcam
im thinking about painting my interior too, got the celica (black and gray) seats in my cam as well as the (black and silver) celica stering wheel, but my interior is a light blue color, and the dash and everything is maroon. blah!! please post pics up when your done!!!!!!!!!
saw the vinyl when it was completely dried and had some splotches on it, so I'm gonna see if I can redo those certain areas.
Overall, the interior so far looks awsome. (i think)
Have to do little areas where the tape was in the way, and the whole back of the car. Just started putting some of the plastic pieces in and the blue on black looks sick!!
I'll see if i can post up some pics tomorrow afternoon on the progress of the interior.

could you guys tell me exactly how many coats of paint is required for a show quality finish? for the plastic surfaces, do you need to spray on primer 1st? then sand it? then put many coats on them and sand them in between? wutabout vinyl surfaces? do you need to sand them in between coats?
For the plastic, definately do primer 1st, then sand it down a bit, then spray paint it whatever color you want. You can sand it down alil in between sprays or just spray coats. Just make sure that they're even coats.
as for the vinyl, do not sand (correct me if i'm wrong) otherwise the coat will peel off. That's right, it won't chip, it'll peel off like thin paper. that's not good cause then you have to go over that spot again and then end up putting an extra coat on the part that didn't peel off while the newly painted area gets less coats.
I'm still in the process of finishing. Need to put about 2-3 coats of sealant over the vinyl paint.

I used a plastic prep designed for pros. I then used standard auto base clear paint. Turned out good. I sanded everything beforehand.
If you use that vinyl paint, use a green scotchbrite pad, scuff it a little, so that it appears dull then use a plastic paint prep cleaner, then spray away.
It should last you a long time. If you used any armor all on the interior before hand, your paint won't stick for long.
I wanna see your interior after. I painted mine a charcoal, but all one color.
Alright, well I'm looking to paint my dash and everything else inside from the stock tan, to a black color here soon. But I've got a question first. Right now the dash has got some cracks in it from the ageing. Some are hairline, and some I could probablly fit a penny in. So my questions is ....is there anything I could use to fill these cracks before I paint it, and what can I do to keep it from cracking more after I paint it?
to prevent cracking use ahesive promoter first. This will give the paint more flex and better surface for the paint to sit on. after the paint dry seal it up with some clear.
