tips on painting emblems (g3)

i already ran a search and got some info, but i still need more.

i know that the rear emblems have pegs and are easy to remove, but someone posted that one of the rear emblems have to be BROKEN to remove. that doesnt sound too good. i also want to confirm that ALL emblems have pegs, so i know i wont have to mark the original positions of the emblems.

i also found nothing on how to remove the front toyota emblem. is it held down by pegs and tape too? i read a post that suggested that it was screwed in. which is it?

one last thing... what size/thickness of double-sided tape should i use, and will i be able to find it at autozone or something?

i plan to sit the car i the sun for a few hours then use floss/goo gone and try my luck. but not before i get some help!

Your best bet is to use a blow dryer, put it on high on heat for a lil to let the glue soften up and use dental floss. I have a gen 4 and did that all i have on my rear is the t symbol, which i got painted and the autobody shop,it is the same color as my car.
So it all matches and blens in nicely

And to put back your emblems use a thin tape or even a model glue thats what i did on my emblem the first time i painted it, and i had no problem taking it off

thx for the help, but my main concern is how to take off the front emblem and the issue of breakage. this is for a gen3, so it is probably different from working with the g4's emblems.

is the front emblem the same as the rears?

or u could just remove the front grille itself.

Pop the hood and there are two bolts on either side or the grille (use a socker wrench or whatever u prefer) take them off and then just pull your grille up.
Turn it over and there are three screws holding the emblem on. take them out and your emblem will come right off!

then go at it with the dremel if your gonna work on clearin out the middle of it. makes it easier when u can hold it

good luck

you could get at it, but its much simpler to take off the grille, its just held in by 2 screws anyways

[rant] Do you guys even look at your cars before you ask these questions? The front grille has to be the absolute easiest part of the car to deal with. Two screws hold it in place, three screws hold the emblem on. If you just take a look, you would know this. Sorry to be a bitch about it, but damn... at least TRY to figure it out for yourself. no worries man...this is suppose to be a "helpful" forum.
if u don't know, then ask.

But do a search first to see if it has been covered before!

GoodLuck
