Hey,
Finally I went and got an estimate on my custom catback that I wanted to do for my cam long time ago. I went to one local shop and they gave me $125 dollars for doing 2.25" piping with hangers and etc. There is $125 total for doing the piping job.
They also sold Magnaflow mufflers, but they are expensive there, about $175 for the round body 6" muffler. So I'm thinking of buying it online somewhere. As far as I heard it should sound nice on I4 cam. Correct?? (I will have CAI in the future as well, for more noise )
Here is my question, none of the shops have mandrel bending mashine (it's too expensive they said, $80gs). So if they will bend it with pressure mashine would that decrese any performance for me? Keep in mind that it's I4, and there won't be any turbo or supercharger on it (lack of $$).
Oh and another question, I really want to get a body kit in the feauture, how much of the muffler should I leave sticking out in order for it to be normal looking with the body kit bumber. You know, so the new bumber won't cover the whole darn thing.
Thank you for the patience, I'm done.
Max

thats a good estimate.. if you dont want it to sound like poop then i recommend you have them install a resonator too (even stock ones do the trick). if you dont you will lose all of your backpressure and get a really loud farting sound from your exhaust!
about the mandrel bending, its not going to make a difference. but as for the bodykit question, if you want it to fit right i suggest you do the bodykit before you do the exhaust. usually a bodykit changes the location of the muffler left-right and up-down at least a little. the bodykit muffler exit tends to not line up perfectly with stock. good luck!
well whether is mendrall bend or not it shouldent make any difference at all. i was lucky to have a hook up, i got custom catback with duals, its not mendrall bend, but even if it was it wouldnt matter. 2 and 1?4 is perfect size, dont go any bigger than that either. i have a body kit, and my mufflers are flush, dont want them sticking out too much starts to look funny, maybe a inch at most
good luck dude

oh yeah, i had duals before i had the kit than i had to get the piping and everything placed differently so getting the kit first would be a good idea i must agree
What if I just get that caback first, because I'm not sure how fast i can get the body kit (altough I could just get back bumper alone or something, but that would mess up everything since 4 pieces are cheaper if bought together), if I don't have body kit, and got system put on, how hard is it to align it with the body kit muffler opening? Do they have to maybe clamp it different way or anything like that. How bad can it be, assuming I might get erubuni kit. Its just i wont be able to afford body kit right away, but I do want the catback, I cant just sit and do nothing Then i might get rims, and body kit the last (with drop).
So whatcha think?

its your call. i mean the exhuast had to be totally moved around when i got my body kit, especially since i have a 3rd gen and the shogun bodykit. i mean my mufflers are tucked at each side of the bumper, pretty damn good custom work, but its all up to how much money you got to spend. i mean if you get the catback then decide to get the bodykit it shouldent be much to get the exhuast moved around. . but that all depends on whether your gonna get the bumper with 2 cut outs of just a single. watch out for what type of tip on the muffler too! i had two totally different mufflers before i got the body kit, but i had to change them when i did get the kit because they didnt fit right. there is a lot to think about.
