I just did a search and couldn't find it, but I know it's been said already.
What size tubing will I need for a CAI? 2.5" right?
I'm thinking of building more of an iceman-styled CAI out of pvc piping and a spray on thermal-protectant.
The el prototypes cai that i've got for my 89 gen 2 is 2.5in. The only tricky part is that you have to widen the hole in the fender a little bit to make it fit. Other than that its a direct bolt on. Good luck building your cai
Don't use PVC piping!!! It gives off fumes when its exposed to the high heat associated with an engine bay. You'd be better off building your cai out of mandrel bent piping like lots of the other dudes on here have.
Originally posted by powderblue91 yea the pvc isn't such a great idea. just get one of those u shaped mandrel bend pieces here and make it like the one here.
I'm intending on spraying it with a thermal spray. I'm still just tossing the idea around yet. So far, I can't find 2.5" PVC piping, so I'm not sure if it's even possible.
i had 3in and it's not worth doing it heats up and gets warped i tried to wrap it with heat wrap, foil, even great stuff but it just wasn't that good due to the fact that it warps
