lug nuts

Ok well im getting a set of 10 spoke sc400 wheels on my gen3 camry.

Im getting conflicting comments on whether or not my oem lug nuts will work on the new set of Lexus wheels

I've checked the dimensions of sc400 and camry lugs and they're the same (12x1.5 or something like that)

well anyways i was wonderin if i can get a definitive answer from you guys

Thanx

The lug nuts should work. Do the rims work though? How wide are they? Are they different width's between front and rear? Also what are the offset(s)? You might need H&R hub-centric spacers for the rear.

cool thanx
just wondering what were the factors you had to consider before determining whether the lug nuts would fit or not

Does the width of the wheel make a difference?
because ive seen previous threads of is300 wheel fitments and they needed wheel spacers

Do you already have Toyota rims now? Or steelies?

Toyota OE lug nuts for their alloy wheels are sorta special... they have a built-in washer that I haven't ever seen before on aftermarket lug nuts or "regular" lug nuts.

Re: lug nuts

It doesn't matter if the SC400 and your Camry uses the same size lugnuts (12mm x 1.5 or whatever it is).

What you need is lugnuts that'll fit your Camry and has the right style seat for the SC400 wheels.

The stock lugnuts on your Camry most likely have a acorn style seat. In other words its a tapered seat.

SC400 wheels have a flat seat, so you need a lugnut with a shank on it. Its either a short shank or long shank, i'm not sure which.

Are you sure the offset on the SC400 wheels is 35...42?

I have a set of SC400 wheels and it says: Toyota 16x7JJ 50. I'm thinking its a 16x7 with 50mm offset.

I believe 50mm sounds more like it. I havent gotten my wheels yet. I got 35...42 from websites

So how would i find out if the sc400 wheels need a long shank or short? Can this problem be fixed easily by a shop or will i havta buy something on top?

I believe they take a long shank.

Safest bet is to take the wheels to a wheel / tire shop and ask them.

You need to buy some new lugnuts (the correct ones for the SC400 wheels).

I'll take some pics of my SC400 wheels, so you can see what i'm talking about.

50 (50mm offset?):

Thickness of mouting holes:

Wheel:

By the way I have a set of 4 that i'll sell since I can't use them (they don't fit on my car). $400 for the set, buyer pays shipping.

I did some searching and found some info on lugnuts.

With my old Lexus IS300 wheels, the ONLY lugnuts that would work on them properly were the OEM Lexus lugnuts. So my answer would be no to using your original Camry lugnuts. Like 88LE said, most Lexus wheels (including the IS and SC) use a special washer-type seat on their nuts.

Ok so you were refering to specific washer lug nuts right
so is the following what you were referring to?
Do you think this is the correct application?
