Do 2nd gen tranny's have different mounts?

Hey, I went to check out my car at the shop finishing it's manual conversion. It seems like I might need new mounts for my 3sge tranny to bolt to the cross member. I was under the impression that the auto and manual tranny's bolt up at the same place? I thought maybe it was because I am using a 3sge tranny and not a 3sfe tranny but they are exactly the same on the outside so I don't know. The shop is going to call me back monday after they have it completely in place to see just exactly what the deal is. Anybody know anything about this?

The manual and automatic have different tranny mounts... (and the all-trac has different mounts also). You will have to get a replacement rear mount. They probably bolt in the same place to the crossmember, but they have different attachment points on the tranny (the tranny is a different shape, after all).

It sucks 'cause its a pretty expensive part.

Well, they are like $50, aftermarket... but that's pretty expensive for a piece of metal and rubber.

okay. That is not too bad then. Basically nothing compared to all the other money I have spent. Hopefully we don't have to go to Toyota to get them but can just pick them up from somewhere.

Edit: Also, I am pretty sure that the difference is on the crossmembers. There were some unused holes on the crossmember. I'm pretty sure that is where the new mounts go.

YAAAAAAAYYYY!

Turns out I don't need the mounts afterall. The geniuses at Autowerks just modified the stock mounts to work with the manual tranny so no money out of my pocket.

This also means that THE MOTHERFU%KIN CAMRY IS BACK ON THE ROAD. I should be picking it up tomorrow. Expect pics SOON!

Well seems that there is another issue or two. I got my car back today. With all the extra stuff done to it, this sucker feels like it is REALLy moving compared to the automatic However, the mount issue that I thought was resolved actually isn't. There a 3 mounts holding the tranny. Right now I have 2. I need the rear mount. I am currently driving it gently without the mount but it is making the car shake like crazy.

2nd issue is I HAVE NO DAMN REVERSE GEAR!!!
I don't know how the hell that happened or how they backed the car in before I got their to pick it up but maybe it is something easily fixed. It better be cuz now that I have my car back, I don't want to let it go. I'm haveing too much fun playing with it.

Man, the rear mount is a pain, but its pretty important. At least it doesn't support the engine/trans weight, it just controls motion from engine torque. You have to snake it in there carefully or remove a bunch of stuff to install it.

No reverse sounds like a pretty big issue... Hopefully its a simple linkage problem or something. If not, they may have to pull the tranny again?

Well turns out the tranny is just acting funny. We found Reverse and I am not having any more issues finding it. Just kinda gotta use some force and finesse at the same time but it works.

As for the rear mount? The tranny is shaking so hard when I shift it knock it out of third soemtimes so I am really gonna have to pick up a mount soon. Where can I get an aftermarket one from?

Any Autozone or Kragen or Pep Boys (etc) would have one. I didn't mean upgraded aftermarket... just a cheaper stock replacement. You'll probably have to wait a few days for it to be delivered though.
