3rd Gen Brakes Overheat?

I have a 1992 Wagon (V6). I was doing some fast driving over the mountains here in Vermont. It was all fun and games until I come to the twisties. I was on and off the gas.. going from ~60 to ~30. This was after coming down a large hill. Near the bottom of the hill my brakes stopped working. I would press the petal.. it felt the same.. I could 'feel' the brakes engaging.. but they didn't slow the car. After driving calmly for 10 minutes they worked fine. What was the cause of this? Did the rotors/pads overheat and no longer create friction? What should I buy/upgrade to make this not happen in the future?

It might be just your brake pads being at their end, or probably your discs as well

Upgrade your pads, a lot of people here recommend KVR.

And flush your brake fluids if you haven't done so for a while.

maybe your brake fluid is overheating and boiling which puts air into your brake lines

new pads, as ekam said, kvr is good

also you could flush out your brake system and put in some for 550F fluid (probably the best dot 3 out there)

How do axxis or ebc green stuff brake pads compare to the kvr pads?
