smoke at startup

It seems that a few I4 Gen4's emit a puff of smoke at startup (Gen 4 Owners Survey). Unfortunately, I've recently noticed it on mine as well. It doesn't smell like fuel, more like a burnt odor. It only does that on an initial startup after leaving my car overnight. Essentially, it's just one puff of smoke, then it idles fine. Is this something I ought to be worried about?

My old i4 did the same thing in the morning. I wouldn't worry about it. It gave me no long term problems. The problem didn't start until I got one of those damn intake mods from ebay. The problem persisted from then on. Not a big deal to me.

My 89 gen2 does it too. It just means that your valve guides are starting to wear and that a few drops of oil are getting burnt up in the combustion chambers. Not a big deal until the guides wear severely.

Would it be $$$$ to have it fixed? Wouldn't want to look ghetto.
