Hello all new here!

I have a '98 Camry 4cyl, auto, with almost 120k on the odo and some warped rotors. I'm doin the brakes tomorrow, I bought some AIMCO rotors from autozone, now I want to get some pads, which pads should i get any brands in specific? I want something as close to stock as possible, thanks everyone.

KVR isn't stock, but supposedly they're very good brakes, with nice bite.

If you want stock, why don't you just go to a toyota dealer and have them order you some brakes?

don't feel like paying an arm and a leg for them.

i just want something that stops fine, doesn't eat the rotor up and doesnt make noise.

any brand you guys recommend? should i buy the cheapest one at autozone????

Are you doing the brakes all the way around?

If you're just doing the fronts, ctmotorsports.com has KVR's for like $47 or so, IIRC.

If you want them to last for another 5 years, don't go cheap on rotors and pads!

meh who cares just buy some cheap pads and cheap rotors... sure you may have to replace em more often but its better than paying more than twice as much

i doubt i'm gonna have the car that long... have had it for about 6 months now, no problems at all except for the brakes, which i should have taken care of 6 months ago haha.

on another topic, the car didn't come with a lighter, where would i be able to find a replacement. not that i smoke, just that i would like the interior to match the exterior, it's perfect!

well, coincidentally, i'm changing my busted ass rotors on friday. is it necessary to change the pads at the same time, even if they've got some good meat still left on em? i got the haynes manual from the library and will check the thinkness of the rotors/pads according to that. thanks.

Hi,

I Highly Recommend:

" Akebono" "ProAct" Ceramic Pads ( Stops great, No Break In ,NO Noise)

Toyota Recommends This Type Of Pad

I Bought Mine From "TireRack" (Highly Recommended Also)

Do a Search I Have A Post On My Brake Vibrations (Warped Rotors)

I Went thru Several New sets Of Toyota Rotors That Warped (Junk?)

After A Short Time (Toyota Dealer Work, New Pads New Rotors Each Time)

I Put On "Brembo Sport Slotted Rotors" All I know Is After I Did This Work Myself

I Have No More Brake Problems At All !!!

At Least Try The "Akebono" Pads ( Its A Nice Kit)

Hope This helps,

Ed

all pads have good and bad....but don't go cheap....toyota pads don't cost that much anyway.....

and it's easy...if you've got a haynes manual or a chilton, then you're good...

The dealer list price for pads are 45 $ us. That's not that expensive for pads. The car takes ceramic pads, if you use a cheap semi-metallic pads you will get squeels and oveheat the rotors. If you get organic you will wear them out in 10,000 miles. You must get ceramic. Akebono pro-act ceramics ARE the dealer pads. So either get the dealer pads or the akebonos and you should have no problems. And remember to wash the new rotors off with soap and water, replace the hardware or at least re-lube it. Relube the caliper guide pins, change the brake fluid, and clean/adjust the rear brakes if applicable. That is the best way to do it, albeit more expensive.
