G3 clunk in front end solved

A few months ago I posted concern about a clunk in the front end, sounded like a bad strut or upper strut mount. Problem is I had just put on KYB GR-2 with stock springs and the car is mint with 37k miles. There was a distinct clunk on compression and another on rebound, particularly out of a driveway with hard right wheel. I had also considered CV joints but it didn't click it was more suspension compression related.

Solution: The plastic wheel well cover was rubbing catching the fender near teh strut tower or near the strut. I cut it back from teh strut with a razor about 1/2" wide and about 18" long. Annoying clunk GONE!

I had rechecked all brake and suspension torques and was thinking $150 strut mounts for sure, so glad I found the real culprit.

I am having surgery tomorrow so it will be a while, but maybe I can do it next week. However, it's the inside of some thin plastic which protects the inner wheel well from debris from the tire. I did it without jacking the car up, and in fact I did it with a flashlight in the dark. BTW I don't think it was bent, it just sorta rubbed. Maybe the stiffer suspension caused the car to flex slightly more.

Cut away the plastic back 1cm from its edge (a 1/2 or so strip), around the area of the spring, maybe a foot long or slightly more.
