Avg life of an o2 sensor

Just wondering how long a 02 sensor normally lasts? I just got done putting in the B1S1 sensor, but the light just came on again, and I suspect the B1S2 sensor may have gone. The cars got 50k miles on it.

P.S. what's the easiest way to clear DTCs for the CEL?

did you have to replace all 3? Were there any that you had to replace repeatedly?

Changed the O2 sensor twice within 6 weeks, still getting the P0131 code for bad B1S1 sensor when the CEL comes on. CEL only comes on intermittently, but it's still annoying.

have you checked the wire. Also the contact should give a certain amout of resistance. Call your local toyota dealership and talk to a mechanic, theyll tell you what it should be.

Or you could just pull the check engine bulb!?!

Both my mom's 1994 V6 (150,000KM) and my dad's 1995 Avalon V6 (220,000KM) have engine check lights on... both for the first O2 sensor.. So far my dad tried one new sensor and one old one from a junk yard and they still don't work!!!

They have just been driving with engine check lights on for almost a year!

I hope mine does not break (162,500KM on mine)

Check engine light comes on for quite a few things.....one of them is an O2 sensor.

Do not use the O2 sensor replacements that you have to modify from the local autoparts place (universals)....they are known to go bad. Pick one up for the dealer or pick up a Bosch OEM or something similar.

If the check engine light keeps coming on take it to the dealer and pay the 50 bucks for the computer check. It's worth it.

I took those cars to my friend who was training at an automotive training school and we hooked up the diagnostic tools to it and figured out that it was the First of the 3 O2 sensors or the wireing related to it...

The Camry's O2 sensor was not as bad as the Avalon's.. when we switched them inbetween cars later on.. just to test, we could see the power difference

All the replacements we got were oem including the one from the junk yard(that one we got through our mechanic.. we will get credit for its $60 cost)

I got the P0131 code at the dealer nearby.

With the OBD II, I know you can clear the code with a DTC reader, but are there any otherways?
