its wedged in there, so you have to lower it, turn the nob ccw
loosen the lug nuts, set the parking break, put car in park, or in gear (if its manual)
then turn the top part of the jack the groove is sideways, then put it about a foot behind your wheel, crank it up, put the little tongue in the groove and jack it up with the crank that's under your spare wheel cover
Actually, make sure when you take off the wheel, put it underneeth the car (engine area, between the front wheels), because that jack is not the best one. I had my car rolled off the jack when I was changing breaks with my buddy, car landed right on the wheel I had under the car. So be careful.

They really need to make the base for the OEM jack a lot wider....
Shouldn't need to do that if he used his ebrake... I mean I've had it roll off on me if I didn't pull the ebrake but never without. And yes hydraulic jacks are awesome, definately get one and a pair of jackstands if you can afford it.

Loosen (3 or so turns, don't take them off) the lugnuts on the wheel before you raise the car, there's less chance of having it fall and they're much easier to break loose on the ground. When you go to put it back on, tighten them as much as you can using your fingers, then fully tighten them when the car is on the ground.
When you're loosening or tightening the lugs, start at one nut, then move to the one furthest away, and then furthest from that one until you've done all 5.

bingo. use your farken E-BRAKE! if you put the car in park/ in gear, it only locks the front wheels... meaning if you raise the car off the front, its going to be able to roll at free will!
toyota jacks work fine! just be smarter than the jack j/k
