hi every1, i have a gen4 w/ 4 bangers, the problems i have now are:
2 cyclinder leakin engine oil,
shocks fu*ked,
speakers blown,
all 4 brakes needed to be replaced (including disc & drums),
tires - 20% treads left,
and timing belt needed to be change soon......
should i fix these problems or i should use the money to trade in for a gen4 v6???
my future mods r:
CAI, S/C (turbo if possible), big brake kit, rims, lowering........
i've always been thinkin of getting a V6, the 4 bangers is just owrkin too hard to pull a car this big.........
The leaking cylinder is either a bad head gasket (if it is coming from the top of the block), or bad piston rings (if oil is getting into the combustion chamber).
The piston rings may cost a lot for labor. Head gaskets aren't too bad. Could be done at home.
Shocks you should be able to pick up cheap somewhere. I'm not really sure where. But there are some reasonably priced places out there.
Tires, you can get a set for around $200.00 at Discount Tires Co. (if there is one in your area). Otherwise check out Tirerack.com.
But it really depends on how much you love your car.

oil getting through the spark plugs n the piston rings to the combustion chamber, after engine heats up, the leakin problem is small that aint make much diff to normal.............
since i want more power from the camry, so i am thinkin if it would be cheaper to get a V6 w/little mod or I4 w/ more mods??but it seems like that no matter how heavy the mods r for the I4, it still wont beat a V6 w/ little mod......... shocks, i think i will save up more money n drop it at the same time........ most issue is the brakes, i wanna get the big brake kit, but then, the I4 caliper seems too small for the supra disc <-- & eventually it will overheat easily...............
damn.............y cant i be a rich guy..........hehe ~~~~
and also, my camry have almost 190k km on them........seems too much for a I4............ and one more thing, after i've driving for 10mins+ @ 130~140km/h............ i can smell burning plastic at the back of my car..........is it a big problem???? sth is burning back there, but cant c watz burning..........

Hold on a sec.
Are the top of the plugs getting coated with oil? If so it could be spark plug tube gaskets and / or the spark plug tubes themselves.
Oil in the combustion chamber is either bad rings, blown headgasket, or bad valve seals.
^...They are all important, I'd never buy a fucking car beat up like that. As for s/c...The rippmods kit is pretty good. And if u want a CAI, correct me if im wrong, You need a hella custom work with the piping and all.
If you cant find anyone to buy it or whatever i suggest you just donate it and start fresh. (U'll get a tax refund which is good )
i agree that the CAI would have to be totally custom, but its not very hard to do.
ditto too about beating your car up... i dont recommend you do ANY mods unless you can actually take care of the car in stock form. having a modded car (performance or looks) takes more responsibility that one might think.
think twice about getting the s/c if you cant even keep fresh brakes/struts on the car
