Also there are TONS of tuner parts of the 3SGTE, like cam gears, cam shafts, pistons, etc., that are either not available or only very limited for the 5SFE.

i heard once the figures of $600 for engine and $500 for swap. is this close? Where can i find the engine. What kind of shops will do the swap?(or will all/most) And if it comes with a manual tranny(read that some do), how hard is that to replace my auto?

times those number by like 7 and yeah ur bought right hehe and its more like this comparision:

cost wise: 3sgte
engine already there wise and originality:5sfe

as far as power goes, all depends on money spent, a nicely built 5sfe will put down jes as much power as some of those 3sgte's running out there, jes takes some building

Yes on tuned 5S-FTE it might put out similar or more max power than a 3S-GTE, but I doubt the powerband will be similar since GE &amp; FE heads are different.

I'd like to see a dyno graph of a 5S turbo camry though to see where the power is at.

well, 5S-FE 135hp and like 140or 145lbs of torque
3S-GTE US models=200hp 200lbs, J-Spec. pre Oct. '93(2nd Gen MR2)=225hp 230lbs, J-Spec. after '93(3rd Gen)=245hp 250lbs, J-spec. (GT4 All Track) pre-Oct. '93= 225hp 230lbs, J-Spec. (ST205 GT4 All TRack) after '93= 245hp 250lbs, 4th Gen 3S-GTE ( off Caldina) 260hp 260lbs...
