So I picked up my 96 Avalon the other day, and went to hardwire my Sirius plug and play unit today. Big mistake. Now the factory radio and some of the dash button (some of the HVAC controls) are non-functional, as is the cigarrete lighter. I tried looking in the fuse and relay boxes under the hood, but could not find anything in any of the 3 boxes I was able to find. Can anybody point me in the right direction? It's acting like a blown fuse, but I can't find any blown fuses. I have no manuals for this vehicle whatsoever, but will be heading to Pep Boys to pick up a Chilton's/Haynes here pretty soon if I can't get this thing figured out. Thanks!

There is one fuse box by the steering colum inside, in the driver side kick panel or instrumental panel. Check there. I've got camry manual, it also says includes Avalone models. So I hope they got the same set up. Let me know if you find it. Mine are behind this little comparment you gotta open and take it off (on left side of steering colum), when you pop it off, there are bunch of fuses there.

Sweet man! I'll go check it out and post back my findings. I figured there had to be in a fuse box in the interior somewhere, just had no idea where to start looking!!
I'd go get a manual myself, but my Jeep has no exhaust right now and is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY loud and the po-po don't like that a whole lot!

Bonus!! That got 'er fixed. It's weird, there's 4 wires for the cig lighter, two yellow, one white, one black. Right now I'm tapped in the black and white ones, left the yellow ones totally alone and it all works. Don't make any sense to me but who cares if it works, right?
Now I can take the Av to the store to get the manual instead of having everybody within 2 miles hear me when I start up the Jeep!
Thanks a bunch man!

How's the sirus? Blasting music on full?
LOVE the Sirius. I've had it for about 6 months now, can't even remember the last time I listened to a CD. The only time I listen to local AM/FM crap is to catch traffic reports (Sirius is working on traffic channels!) and to listen to Coast to Coast late at night. I've got the plug and play unit, so when it's time to go wheeling I just grab the receiver (maybe 4" high x 6" wide x 2" deep) and slap into the receiver dock in the Jeep. I'd highly recommend it.

XM's pretty good too. The big thing that made me want XM was the fact that Pioneer CD decks have XM tuner controls built into them, and I love Pioneer decks. I got the hardware for Sirius for free in a promo they had a while back, so I couldn't beat that! XM does have a few more commercials, and Sirius allegedly has better sound quality since they supposedly borrow "bandwidth" from their talk stations and give it to the music stations.
