Read your owners manual. It tells you the recommended grades of oil to use in what temperature.

I use 5w30 all year round since it offers perfect protection all year long but you can switch to 10w30 for summer.

I use 10W-30 in the summer as it is the thickest oil Toyota recommends. In the summer I use 5W-30. As far as brand goes I only use Castrol GTX. I read somewhere that the GTX is the best oil for Toyotas.

I use 10W-30 all year round. I use Mobil 1 and tend to change it every 5K because it is synthetic. Never had any problems with it at 43K miles

I use Castrol 10w30 all year round, even with our Canadian winters. Some mechanic (shopping for stuff) told me at Crap Tire that you should never try to mix different grades of oil...it wreaks havoc on the internals.
