Possible Problem, Help!

Yesterday i was practiciing removing and putting on my clear corners. (only practicing cause my friend wanted to do it with me on sat.) Well i took off the top button (self tapping screw) and i could not get the corner off at all. I did a search and this is what i got.

"The way recomended by the manual was to tape the tip of a flat head and then slide it between the corner and the headlight and gently pry. I've tried it and it works great."

"use a Philips head and pry it it will slip rite out.. trust me ive done it 1000 times. works like a charm"

I the corner should come out towards you when your standing in front of the car but in Example 1, It sounds like you make it go towards the side. My next problem is that when i was putting back the Button (self tapping screw) the bottom triangular diamond thing that you can squeeze to make smaller and if you dont touch it expands. (perhaps somoene who's done this before knows what im talking about) Well, I broke the bottom part and i was wondering will there be a problem? Do i have to get a new STS or anything or is it ok broke?

Oh and BTW, i have a gen4.

If you had some pics I could give an opinion. Right now my only experience is with Gen 3 corner lenses.

When you took out the plug you needed to pop up the inner part right? Well it's going to need to be reinstalled the same way. Lift up the inner plug push the entire anchor into the hole then push the inner plug in. If you didn't do it this way it could have broke. They don't cost that much to replace. In order to pull out the corner light remove the anchor and grab onto the light at where the outside corner edge is and also grab onto the bracket that holds it in place and pull, it takes a bit of force but it will pop out. let me know if u don't understand.

Re: Possible Problem, Help!

You are right (not the part about example 1) -- the corner will pop out going forward, not to the side.

As for the button, as long as the part that slides in and locks is still good, it will hold the corner in. Just pop it in, and check to see if the corner is loose. The diamond thing you're talking about, I have a broken one on one side too, but it still holds very securely.

Also, in case you go to the dealer asking... I don't know what that button thing is called, but it's not a self tapping screw (it's not even a screw). A self tapping screw usually refers to a sheetmetal screw that is pointy, as opposed to a screw with a flat bottom. It means that you can take the screw and drive it in without having to tap a hole first. Just FYI

Good luck man.

K well me and my friends got it...And we figured out how to get it out.

You first take off the button. Then inside the is a clip thing where your corner connects and you have to use a flat head or soemthing and try to get out. Then you can tape up your flat head so it doesn't scratch the paint and then put the screwdriver in the crack and try and pry it against the car a little and the back of the corner should pop right out of the place it is hooked up to inside the car. Then you remove the corner bulb and put on your clear corner.
