Question Help Needed 99 Solara SLEv6

I just bought a 1999 Solara Sle V6 with 160k miles for $2,750. When I bought the car everything seemed fine during test drive. But now as I drive it daily I noticed when going a steady RPM or Steady speed the car tends to pulsate or almost putter like its running out of gas? It does not do this when accelerating. Any suggestions would be helpful?

Some parts places like Advanced Auto or AutoZone will scan the car for free. Get it scanned and get the code. You mentioned 02 sensor and thermostat in another post. Get the actual code like "P0135" or similar format. Contact the seller and see if the symptoms existed earlier.

Well this is interesting to know as I just bought a 1999 Toyota Solora SLE V6 myself (although with only 105K miles) and running fine. When was the last time a tune up was done? Or the throttle body cleaned? Could be a faulty mass air flow sensor or even a clogged fuel filter.

Keep me posted and let me know how you make out.

Good luck! =)

Thanks for the reply but the issue was already resolved. I had:

Brakes and rotors done all the way around, thermostat and gasket for coolant leak, assy, parking b, and the related problems were: 89467-41021 sensor, 3 part fuel system service, fuel and are misc, r&r plug wires, fuel filter assy, replaced timing belt, and set. all for 1681.61 and the problems was the sensor on the rear bank, sensor on front bank, timing, and plugs and wires. As a result the Computer needed reprogrammed as well.

That's great to hear, Lauer and for all of that work that seems like a VERY fair price. Car is running all better I presume?

Electrical problems are by far the very WORST problems to have as it's not always easy to pinpoint which specific part need to be replaced and sometimes have to go through a process of trial and error to fix which can get VERY costly. This has been the DEATH of my previous two cars.

Thanks for sharing; this is good to know should I happen to experience the same symptoms. Hope your problem stays FIXED and doesn't resurface again, turning out to be something else. Good luck!

All the BEST, and thanks again!

According to your description, the first thing I would have checked was the throttle position sensor. It sounds like it was resolved, but keep this in mind if it comes back. Glad it worked for you.
