Hey wondering if anyone knows of any after market stainless brake lines for a 2000 Solara. I know TRD made some but just checked with them and I guess they are discontinued, don't know why. Anyone also know if anyone makes brake kit ?? Maybe 4 piston calipers and vented or slotted roaters ?
I think I saw out here people talking about Brembo, but do they make any for Solara ? I know if they did would be too much for me now, but just thinking down the road. Any help would be great, thanks !
Dave, check with Goodridge, as I think they make stainless steel-braided brake lines. As far as the Brembo kit goes, there is an application for the Gen4/Solara, it "starts" at $2000, and will include everything you need, as well as brake lines. You will need a minimum of 17" wheels and to make sure the calipers don't get interfered.
Thanks for the info Luc, you always seem to come through for me !! Yeah I can't afford the Brembo stuff yet, so was thinking of just doing the brake lines and maybe sport brake pads, will you feel some difference just with that ???
Would rather someday put the money in for the supercharger before the Brembo.
Thanks Dog, sorry I'll miss you guys this weekend at Old Orchard, hope the cam/sol will have a good show for the IS300 crew
Another option for the brake lines is to find a shop that sells stainless steel braided lines and AN fittings. They can make you up a set.
You need to know the size of the fittings or take off one of the front and rear brake lines and bring them to the shop so that they can match it up with the right size fittings.
Theres a shop were I live that'll make them up for $120 - $130. They use Earl's lines and fittings. This is same stuff i'm using on my turbo (oil feed and drain lines).

No problem. Yeah, the Brembo kit is too rich for my blood also. Of course, if I win that Big Game lottery on Friday... I had contemplated about just getting new rotors and pads, as well as upgrading the brake lines. It can't hurt, except for my wallet, and some have noticed an improvement.

Hopefully, we won't get any rain on Saturday. Luckily, two other guys (so far) with their Gen4 and Solara are going also. We'll take some pictures as well.
Yeah let me know how Saturday goes for sure, Like I said I'll be at the next one for sure.
HAHAHAH, Yeah I'll tell you what if I win that Big Game on Friday, you can bet, I"ll have the 18'' the Brembo kit, and supercharger all bought by Monday. Hell I'll even buy you and Howard whatever you want for your rides !!!
Yeah I was thinking just doing the brake lines and sport pads for now and see what effect that will have, I saw the break lines at Tirerack.com for like $120. Just wondering how much it would cost to install them, or if you have had any experience doing something like that.
Let me know. have fun this Saturday !!

We are always willing to attempt new projects. I'm sure it's not too difficult to change the lines, only flushing the brake lines out of the air bubbles will need to take some time.
