Its just a muffler...
performance wise, in my opinion, they all the same. Altough they differ in sound. I just got my Magnaflow Race Series muffler with resonator ($140 total). I didn't put it on yet, I'm looking for a good performance shop, i found one, but those guys are busy, so I'd have to wait a little. When I'll get it all done I'll post a sound clip, I'm hoping it would sound sweet.

Not bad, so what'd you guys think of an N1 + silencer?
Still really loud?
I do want some rumble, just not to the point where I have to blast my CD player to hear it over the rumble.

No offense, but the way I've always done things is "Do it right, or don't do it." I have pretty high expectations for my cam, most of which won't happen for a bit off yet, but I'd certainly rather take the neccessary steps to get myself there than to skimp on something, have to go back and redo it, and so on.
I'm not sure about just getting any muffler. I went to a muffler shop and got them to put a cheap stainless muffler on my old cam. It sounded horrible. It farted from 1500-3000 rpms. I think it was becuase I had no resonator.
If you guys talking about Apexi N1, then I heard they are not loud at all....
Yeah TheMajesticking is right. Don't get anything really cheap like those look alikes, just good brand name.

what do yall consider loud, cause i want to get a muffler but i dont want it to be ricer loud. i have never heard an Apexi to my knowledge. most of the mufflers i hear are on riced out civics and shit. so i dont really know what to consider loud. would a good muffler sound like a new G35 or 350Z? im just trying to get an idea what kinda muffler i should get.
dudes, i have an apexi n1 muffler with 2.25 piping and it wont be as loud as those civic ricers...and i dont even have a silencer!!!
only if you floor it(with a CAI or SRI) it will be loud but never-the-less... it wont be loud at low rpms...
and yes it will give off good low tone sound....
trust me it wont sound like crap...and when you drive on the freeway, its barely noticeable..
augcam, don't worry, it's all conducive to my topic anyhow. You're asking basically the same thing as me.
Thanks everyone else, I think the N1 is what it'll be. Do you guys know what the difference is between all the N1's on summit's site?
There's like 15 listings, and I know the turbo ones are wider (which I don't want) but beyond that, I don't understand the price difference. I'm guessing maybe one comes with a silencer and one doesn't, but if so, which does and which doesn't? Thanks guys.
the apexi n1 muffler comes in 2 different types
one for N/A engines and one for Turbo engines
this is the one you want....
heres the part number: Part #: 156-A008 with 60mm inlet 90mm tip ( assuming your car isnt turbo)
the tip for the n/a is about 3.5 inch....
and the turbo tip is i think 4.5 inch....
i guess its okay to get the turbo muffler as well if you dont have a turbo and want a bigger tip... but i dunno
i just stayed with N/A
Originally posted by UfoZ8myCow i know for a fact that the Hi Power, N1, and Veilside mufflers all have silencers available. I think it looks a little cheesy though, maybe you could go with a resonator instead to bring down noise levels.
Do you think it would bring the noise-level down as much as the silencer though?
I'm more looking for the performance (and reliability) than the look or sound. Like I said though... my checklist (in order) would be:
1. Performance
2. Sound (not loud, but a low pitched rumble)
3. Looks
Don't waste your money, as long as it's all stainless steel you're set. Keep your resonator and it will sound fine, chop it and it will be raspy and louder and when you add "big power" do the piping to match your header.
I have a cheap 3ARacing all stainless 2.25"in/dual2.5"out straight thru muffler on my Camry that I got at the same mom and pop muffler shop that did all the dual 3" stainless piping on my Vette and my Pro Street Monte Carlo. They did my Camry's rear section from the resonator back w/ 2.25" aluminized steel piping to tuck up all the bends, it sounds and looks good.
