Almost everything at the dealer is overpriced, just be lucky you weren't low on blinker fluid, they really overcharge on that.
Hahahaha...blinker fluid...that's a riot...i heard that radio bit on the Don and Mike show a couple months ago... anyone here have it on MP3 or anything?

Search back through the off-topic forum. I think there is a clip of some crank call where a Midas shop convinced a girl that she needed like $3500 worth of headlight fluid, TWO transmissions, a $70 cig lighter install/replacement, tires mounted on wrong side of car....ect... It was really a riot.
The reg headlight fluid cost 10 bucks/side, while the halogen fluid is like 30/side...lol. You think she would have caught on after the Two transmissions thing, but no, she seemed to believe the whole thing.
whenever there is a sale on coolant (mid summer) i just go in and buy a few (keeping in mind i have 2 toyota's and one lexi). In the summer the price i pay varies from 7 bucks a gallone to 12bucks a gallon ($7 is with coupons - like 20% of parts, etc). $20...thats a ripoff! Just call other toyota dealerships and see what they are offering..then go to the dealer near yoy and tell them...so & so dealer quoted me this, can u match it...(100% of the time it works for me).
I showed that clip to my father, who owns his own repair shop. He thought it was so funny, that when my cousin comes back from studying abroad, he's going to do the same thing to her. (her car doesn't run while she's away, so she always brings it to him to make sure everything is good to go when she gets back)
$550 for a piston realignment
$1075 to pay for damage caused by "gas evaporating into the engine"
$340 for an airbag sensor that was damaged when the battery went dead
$100 for a new keyless entry remote battery
$75 to reset the compass
$300 for a tranny flush (just a bit pricy)
$120 for new wiper cables
$250 to "reseal" the moonroof, which was "sealed" shut during winter.
Just to name a few of the things that will appear on her work order. Her work order will be about the same price as she paid for the whole freakin car. Best thing is, it will look legit, because there will be an actual workorder and everything.
I have never seen red toyota (or any red) auto coolant in any auto parts store, although I only went to two or three different stores. I would just suck it up and pay this time, and the next time you need a coolant flush, I would use regular fluid. I would send you the 3/4 of a gallon I have left of my Toyota-brand Fluid, but the shipping probably would be more expensive than the amt you would save.

Thanks for the offer!
I totally agree. Unless the Carson City dealer has it for cheap, I will just keep this stuff. When I need a flush, I will probably think about switching over.
My mechanic said my car (75k miles) does NOT need to be flushed, and I basically told him to do it if he wanted, so not a money thing - I think he genuinly thought it did not need it.
