what is the difference between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen 3S-GTE motors?

1st Generation (190 HP) 1988-89 ST165 (Celica GT4/All-Trac)
2nd Generation(200 HP) 1990-93 ST185 (Celica GT4/Alltrac) 1990-199x(?) SW20 (MR2 Turbo)
3rd Generation (260 HP) 1994-99 ST205 (Celica GT4)

the 3rd generation sw20 3s-gte had 245 hp, and was from 1996 (i think), to 99 (for sure)
4th generation 260 hp, GT4 Caldina...

also remember the MR2 3S-GTE's have the intercooler on the side, where as all other 3S-GTE's have a top mounted intercooler, requiring a hoodscoop, but if you're going to relocte the intercooler to the front, then it really shouldnt matter which car you get it from (well, JDM models dont pass emissions)...

also the valve cover will be upside down in an MR2 3S-GTE...
