My bros. got Mitsubishi 1.5 Lancer/Mirage 2001, and the shop that specialises in Mods for Mitsubishi recommends that he dus the Quad throttle body to get up to 50% more HP... He's dun all the other breathing mods aswell.

I was just wondering if it'll make the same performance increase for my (1.8L Engine: 1S-Ci) 1989 Camry. Cuz i havent heard ne one at all on this forum talking about these Mods and i was wondering WHY???

I was wondering if they can be done to my camry or camrys in general and if they'll still give a performance increase.

THANX alot in Advance.

Quad throttle bodies are more geared for Top End usage ( it would require a high duration cam and hi redline to make use of it)... While the Big port single throttle body would be more balance than a quad throttle. Now if your talk turbocharged and go quad throttle body it would be great top end adder but when boost actually going past 1 bar of boost it becomes a restriction.
The only reason why people on here dont talk about it is because no one makes quad throttle body kit for the 5S-FE. And the only company that does do anything for the 5S-FE throttle body wise is RC Engineering but requires you send them in a core throttle body, so theres is some major down time with this mod...

thanX for that man...

but i've got a 1.8L, 1S-Ci(this is the engine, weird... huh) 1989 Camry, do u guys know if its a high reving engine? I cant get any info. on it from the net.

Also, from what wraith said does that mean I could get an oversized throttle body put into it?

BTW has anyone ever heard of my engine "1S-Ci" it seems that the 89' camry came out with this 1.8L engine. I only found this out when i went and looked at getting a recconned engine... all this time i thought it was 2L

Thanks

Okay let me give this a try ... 1S-Ci stands for the "1"st generation "S" motor, "C" carburated "i" injection... your is a 1.9L ( 1823cc to be exact) and if you have a carburated engine you should be able to turn that thing into a screamer by changing the cams...

ThanX a whole heap... thats the first bit on information i've got on my engine. They dont have nuthing on it, on the WEB.

Wraith u know how u sed that i should be able to get sum performance increase by changing the cams, would i need to get any other mods to get the full benefit of the cam change? Any other mods u recommend for my engine?

Also...Can anyone confirm wat wraith sed above about my engine? It's not that i dont believe u man... just that i need to be sure before i start doin serious engine mods.

ThanX alot...

I would suggest getting your valves done and have dual valve spring put in... And have your head ported and polished... Headers will help and open up the exhaust system ( this most likely will be custom) and a custom intake...
