bent axels???

I've seen reference on this forum to bent front axels? I don't know what is mean be axel on front wheel drive, does it mean drive shafts?

Anyway, when driving slowly in low gear, such as in shopping center car parks, I can feel a distinct 'knocking' coming from below my feet, more so on the passenger side. It speeds up on acceleration. It remains audible even if I put the auto transmission into neutral and just roll along for a while.

There is also noticeable wheel wobble when traveling around 100km/hr (I think that 's60m/hr in USA figures).

Could this be bent axels? If so, what's the prognosis and is it expensive to repair?

Sounds like a bad tire. Or a bent rim. Run your hand along the tread of the tire and check for any lumps. Also raising the car will make the lump(called a seperation) easier to find. Prob. time for some new rubber.
