Question A little slower in first

My car seems to be lagging to the power department in first gear, i mean its real sluggish. It accelerates MUCH better in second and thrid gears. Im just thinking that, well she's getting old she's got 167000 miles. But we have never had a "tune up" by any dealer and i would get one except i dont have any money and second i dont like the Toyota place touching my car.

What do you guys think?? Any ideas??

yeah um you should probably do a tune up:
1: buy a chiltons repair manual
2: replace fuel filter(s)
3: replace belts
4: replace plugs+wires+distributor+rotor+cap
5: run some fuel injector cleaner through a full bag of gas
6: replace air filter
7: oil change
8: replace intake and exhaust manifold gaskets
9: get yer cat converter checked
10: clean your engine at the nearest car wash

Make sure to change your tranny fluid and filter since that's where the hesitation is coming from.

sorry late reply
yeah i have a haynes i aint a noob and i've done 2,3,5,6(CAI),7,10,11(by EKAM)
believe me i keep my car in the best condition i can with the money i have
My car has a distributor-less motor (at least i aint never seen one) and i was going to change the plugs prob this summer when i get time and money.
The cat and tranny flush would be next on the list.
