This is my first posting, so please be gentle. The antenna from my 93 Camry is in bits on the bench - It wouldn't switch off when it came down. Should I
1. Fork out $291 + taxes to the local Toyota dealer for a new antenna.
2. Buy a generic power antenna form Candian Tire.
3. Buy a manual antenna from Canadian Tire
4. Put in an S2000 antenna (please bear in mind that up to an hour ago I'd never heard of an S2000 antenna - but I have read some posts on the conversion)
Thank you
John

I suggest you to do the S2000 antenna conversion. First you don't want to get the Toyota OEM replacement because it's expensive and it'll break again for sure after few years. Canadian Tires - price is cheaper but they look a bit ugly IMO. For about the same price that you spend on getting the antenna from CanTire you can get yourself the S2000 antenna which IMO looks better than those long black rod.
Definitely do NOT buy the antenna from Toyota...what a rip. If you like the auto antenna, you can buy universal ones on Ebay for like $50 - $80 or so.
If you're going manual antennas, you can get cheap universal ones from Walmart for like $15...that's only if you only care about functionality. The S2000 conversion will run you about $75 or so...I found that I lost out a few stations but hey, it looks so nice!
Dickson, I think he's in Victoria, British Columbia...he's Canadian for sure because $291US for an antenna would be INSANE!

I knew this day would come. The power to the motor in my antenna still seems to work, but the antenna doesn't go up and down. I can hear the motor whirring when I turn the car off, but the antenna doesn't move. Is there a way I can disconnect the motor but leave the antenna up? (The ultimate in cheap way to "fix" this problem.) I'm not a big fan of the S2000 antenna's, and I don't wanna dish out $50-80 for a new one. Let me know. Thanks!
Yeah, there's a plug that goes into the relay box on the antenna unit...just disconnect that.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll just leave the thing up until I can go and have a look at the S2000.
At present I have no antenna and seem to get most of the stations I listen to-CBC 1 and 2.
I live in Victoria, BC (aka God's Waiting Room) I didn't put "BC" in my signature as I am under the impression that Toyota Nation originated in Toronto, and even Torontonians know where Victoria is.
