engine tuning before a Rippmods SDS?

hey i was wondering for a while now, what would be a good thing to do to tune up and engine before getting a SDS. the next mod i put on my car would probably be this SDS from rippmods, but i have a while to go to save up.

how would i go about doing this and what would be some good things to do to make sure my engine will be able to handle the SDS? i dont want to put the SDS on and have my engine freak out and explode after i have just invested $3000+ on this thing.

or is the SDS so safe that the only thing that i need to do is make sure i keep my oil changed. :P

expert opinion needed. thx

do compression and leak down test to get and idea of the health of the engine. If the results are positive, do what ufo suggested.

Also, don't overlook non-engine related things that might need attention ie. suspension and steering, transmission, brakes, exhaust, body.

I'll reiterate, this is the most important.

any lic'd mechanic should be able to so a leak down test for you. You could also do it yourself if you rent the tool from your local automotive parts store and do some research on how to use it and interpret the figures it gives you.
