Ok...allow me to clear the air a little...

Your friend is only 1/2 right.

You will not get a lot of horsepower gains from either of them. That part he is right about....

Now, what he's not right about is that they are basically the same. They are not.

Both will give you improved air flow that's better than the factory box. But a cold air intake gives you colder air than a short ram intake. This is because the filter on a cold air intake is not in the engine bay. It's completely away from the engine bay altogether, getting it from a spot where colder air can be found; such as the inside of a fender.

A short ram will give cold air when you're in motion, but when you're at idle, the air inside the engine bay is "warm" or "not as cold".

Your intake prefers the coldest air possible, this is why a cold intake works better than short ram intake. A cold air intake with a quality filter (K&N) will have much more improved acceleration over a short ram setup.

Stick with the ram man. Your not going to feel 5 hp. Check out Import Tuner. They run dyno tests every issue. I haven't ever seen one put out more than 10hp. Yours sounds tight now. Stick with it.
