Unhappy What to do?

I now have 17" Enkei wheels with 245/40/17 tires on them so they look a bit funny well I have some alternatives. A friend at my school bought some 10 spoke 18s from this guy for $100. He is trying to sell them for $350. They have a good amount of thread on them and minor curb marks. Definately worth every bit of $350. I just don't have the money. There is another dude that is willing to buy them from him too. He said "first come first serve" so I really dont want to go as far as to sell the ones I have when he may sell them to the other guy, then I would have no rims.

This is what happened last night: I'm walking to my car from class and my other friend goes in his trunk and pulls out an 18" rim. He has a 1990 Oldsmobile cutlass wagon. I highly doubt if they would fit. I have the 17s at home and I told him that they might fit better than the 18s would. He said if I check online for him to see if they would fit.

I could get those for free or try to come up with $350 for the better ones. The only thing I don't like about the second set is that they have like 18 spokes and the first set are 10 spokes. They are both in about the same condition. What do I do?

How low is your Cam dropped? I have 215/50/17 and I have about a 2 finger gap. If you're not low enough 18's will still look funny imho.

At least you have 50s. I have 40s. There is a ridiculous gap. I plan to drop it soon though.

if you plan on dropping it then don't worry about the rims, it'll all look much better when you drop it

Yeah, just get thicker tires.
Even if I got 18's I'd run 45's. You ideally want to keep the stock 27"o.d. or plus it by 1"

The 17s that I have are 17x9 and I think that if I get any bigger tires then they would rub.

Nah, you could run a 215/50/17 with out rubbing. On my 215/50/17x8.5's I have about half an inch maybe a little more from the tire to the strut with 18's I'd run a 215/45/18.
You could also try a 220 or 225/45/17 its a hair smaller side wall than the 215/50.

That's why I mentioned the 245s. I don't know how the the 17s have 215s on them. That's way too narrow and for the price I'd pay for tires I could get the 18s.

I have a 215 on a 8.5" rim and its just fine. ...and I've never paid over $110 per tire, in fact the tires I have now are $82 from the tirerack they're Continental ContiExtream something or other.

The other option is to buy the other 18s as opposed to buying new tires for the wheels I have already. The other 18s have good tires.
