'The VENOM 400 constantly monitors the vehicles throttle position senor (TPS) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) or air mass sensor (MAS). When airflow entering the engine and the throttle position sensor reaches a predetermined level, the VENOM 400 is activated. The VENOM 400 then enters a strategy of sense and modify. It senses the sensor values, interprets them, then modifies them to increase performance. The existing on-board computer senses the modified values and increases fuel flow, modifies the ignition spark curve and transmission shift point (on automatics only). Once the sensor valves return to normal mode (like idle), the VENOM 400 switches back to sense only mode until conditions again warrant the high performance mode.'
'modifies transmission shift point (on automatics only)'
thats exactly what i want. are any other electronic upgrades available like this that would also modify shift points for my automatic? options are always good!
I've heard the Venom 400 is pretty crap-tacular. On numerous tests it gained negligible power and at too high of a cost. I agree with Warped, keep that ECT button pressed and keep smiling at the amazing speed you'll be gaining. Or the lack thereof.

I've heard the same about the Venom 400. Supposedly all it really does is make your ecu see a high throttle reading at all times so when you're really only at 10% TPS it might see 15% TPS, etc. So it seems that you have gained soem power.

Was going to buy one but couldn't find independant users who can verify any claim. I did hear of fuel consumption going up but that could be just driving habits, i.e. stomping on gas looking for those magic, imaginary horses. It does have a cool LED when it kicks in to let you know your engine is guzzling even more gas.

All it does is trick the ecu into thinking the TPS is open more then it really is.
Electronically Controlled Transmission. Your car should have a button that allows you to switch between normal and power modes. The difference between the two is that in power mode the tranny holds onto shifts longer for max pulling power up hills or during impromptu races with shopping carts. If your car doesn't have an ECT button then you should be able to find one at a local junkyard. On my 89 gen2, it didn't come with an ECT button stock but when i removed the center console I was very pleased to find out that it was already pre-wired for it. And voila I hooked the puppy up and I was good to go. Hope this helps ya out bro.

If you have a manual tranny there is no need or availability for an ECT button. The ECT button is for automatic transmissions so that it can shift at higher rpm points. If you want to shift at higher RPM points with your manual tranny then just shift later.
