How many professional mechanics do we have on this board?
I used to work as a mechanic, got ASE certified in a couple of areas. Then I went back to school and now work a desk job. I still try to do as much as possible on my own vehicles and those of my friends and family.
Just wondering, I see we have a good mix of people on here.
I see there are no replies. My buddy is fully certified, we were supposed to set up shop in a much larger town but he got a job as an oilfield firefighter, he makes twice the cash he would have as a mechanic (even at $32 hr). I took two years of engineering before moving on to a different science degree. I had always loved the design aspects of cars. When I have worked on various cars, I have to shake my head at some of the things designers did making them...
I used to be a mechanic and a service writer for goodyear. Now Im selling toyotas. I worked on cars for about 3 years. Im trying to be a used car manager using my automotive knowledge i've gained from being a mechanic.
I'm not a technician but I've been a certified service writer for BMW and Honda for a couple of years. All these Honda folks give me shit for driving a Toyota but who cares. They're just jealous my ride looks better than theirs.
I'm a toyota certified master technician, 15 years at the toyota dealer, largest in mo, ase master certified , ase L1 certified, a year on hondas before moving to toyotas, wouldn't work on anything else, great cars, just wish they'd build a one ton diesel crew cab so i can get rid of my ford. .LOL.

I have worked on some that share the toyota engines, people bring them to us for service sometimes. None of the specifis lexus stuff though.
Nice cars, they are diffinately a step up on yotas, bells and whistles wise.

haha nope. Im barely a toyota tech My grades are good enough to get me into a lexus dealership through the T-Ten program tho.
I was j/w. A person with your experience could probably make a pretty penny working for a luxury car company.
