More power from 5f-se

i am sick of getting beaten by civics and was wondering if any one knows how to get more power out of the 5f-se engine without turbocharging it.

I do have a pod filter and a 2 inch cat back exhaust system

Any help would be appreciated.

Not to be a dick but its the 5sfe. There's another dude on here that's talking about race tuning his motor too. You can always snag some hard parts from a 3SGTE to make your motor stronger or you can just do a 3SGTE motor swap.

ever thought about getting a new clutch, don't know how your losing to civics (unless they have a motor swap)... but i have the same motor 5 speed and i can hand their ass to them everytime, there's an occasional few that can get away but that's like a hand full (probably the ones with the swap).

this is wat i got in my camry;
Injen Intake
Magnecore wires
Iridium spark plugs
Excedy clutch (makes a big difference)
5 Zigen exhaust
cat back 2.5 piping
Trd short shifter

and if those don't work ever think about NOS?

Losing to civics shouldn't be happening. Have you had a tune-up, cleaned throttle body, etc.?

How can everyone say losing to civics shouldn't be happeneing? 3sfe and 5sfe Camry's are slow as $hit. Listeneing to you guys, you would think you had the V6's. Civics don't need a swap to beat a 4 cyl Camry. All they need to be is not the base model. Every top model civic with a 5 speed since 1988 would hand a 3sfe/5sfe Camry it's @ss. Starting with the old Si's all the way upthrough the new EX's. And don't even start thinking about the Newer(last 2 gen) DOHC Si models. A race with those and a 4cyl Camry would just be humorous. 3s/5s equipped Camry's are good for beating busses and that's about it(unless you want to really through some money at them).

i actually kept up with a ricer all the way up to 80 in my first gen (automatic). I think that the 5sfe wouldnt be too far behind

How the HELL are you guys keeping up with civics in ur 5SFE??? I get wasted everytime! Seriously my gen3 5SFE does 0-60 in like 11-12sec and a Civic does a 0-60 in 8.5. How can you guys be keeping up with something that has about the same power and weighs about 500lb less? Hell even a v6 cam doesn't do much better than 8sec on the 0-60. At BEST, only you V6 people should be able to keep up with civics, not us 4cyl 5SFE's.

I don't doubt it. These are base model civics you guys are racing though. That doesn't mean you can call all Civics slow. I hear a lot of people do that with Camry's since they see one 4cyl run an 18 at the track then all of a sudden, all Camry's run 18's. Every top of the line civic(not even including the dohc models) had similar hp as the 3sfe and 5sfe engine since like 1988 and their has always been like a 500+ lb difference between the cars.

By the way, to whoever started this thread., it's a 5s-fe not a 5f-se engine

When I had my I4 cam (down below) i dusted a few civics. No one said anything about dusting an SI but a regular ex or lx I would say yeah. Unless they have some mods you know nothing about.
