Toyata engine in Chevy Prism help needed

Hello, my son cooked a 1.8 toyota motor in his 2000 Chevy Prism by not adding oil. I got a junkyard motor took his old one out and put the new one in. Changed all sensors cleared all codes but one. random misfires. The car will start but will not idle and backfires out the exhaust. The exhaust pipes get so hot they will glow if left running long enough. I checked the timing by pulling the valve cover and studying the chain marks. it is in time. I put a oem o2 sensor and new plugs in the motor. I can find no other problems to check. I really need some help here. I know this is not all toyota but the drivetrain is and I am lost as what to do next. I am thinking that the computer could be the problem. It seems like a timing problem but it is not. The comp controls allthat stuff I think? I could really use some help from a knowledgable Toyota tech guy. Thanks for your time.

I think you would be better served to post this in the Corolla forum, not the Camry forum.

re prsm1.8

I think I may have found the problem. I talked to a guy on "therangerstation.com" who has the same vehicle and had the same problem. It may be that I put a hose in the wrong place ,actually two of them. I dont know for sure as the vehicle is 30 miles from where I am and I will not be able to get to it until Friday. I put a post on all the car sites. I should have just stayed on The ranger station. I will repost If I get it fixed and explain what I did wrong.
