cool ass metal thing

Hey guys, i am looking for a term here... you know when you have an aftermarket exhaust... or any muffler generally for that matter, and of course it lets out black exhuast crap... does anybody know what the metal plate people fabricate/buy? to protect their body from the discoloration... also can be a minor heat shield... below is a diagram- i am looking for the name b/c i wanna read up on making one- see what the purpose would be aside from cosmetics...

Nate that drawing cracks me up

Your favorite rice shop should carry it. It's a universal thingy with double sided tape. IMO

man, just find a piece of scrap sheet metal (or buy a new piece) and bend it yourself. Voila! Instant custom heat shield for Camry. Hell, I'd buy one if you made it.

...and yes, your drawing is l33t

I thought I saw something like that in the F&F aisle at Pep Boys.

What makes that drawing so awesome is that I think Nate meant it.

Those metal things are typically called "bumper finishers" or something to that effect.

And yes, I have seen multiple cars that have burnt/melted bumpers (not just soot). It normally happens with poorly placed aftermarket mufflers/exhausts.
