alright...I'm trying to remove some paint off the car (rust removal job, and for custom grille making). What is the MINIMUM grit sand paper I should be using, as not to leave gouges in the plastic/metal? Better yet, tell me what grits I should be using in general. THX!

get a paint removal tool... looks like a hard sponge on a stick... it goes onto a drill. you just basically grind off the paint. it works very well and is cheap. autoparts store or home depot/lowes

They sell full kits for fixing paint jobs. It will have what you need. And then you can do it in steps as to not wreck anything.
