hey , i was just wondering, i want to put gauges on the a-pillar of my car. (GEN4)
1. Does anyone have any pictures of one that has been completed? (closeup)
2. What gauges are the best?
3. Which are the easiest to install? (volt, ect....)
4. Where to get the gauge pods?
Any other4 info would be greatly appreciated !

Sorry to tell you, but they really don't make gauge pods Camry specific. You'll have to have some custom molded. Gauge-wise, anything should do. They're all rougly the same size. Good luck!

I know you have a gen 4, but I only remember seeing a gauge pod on a gen 3...actually the kid that drives this camry (well not amymore, sold to his sister after getting a 3000GT) lives about 10 mins from me. His page says he custom made this using a gauge pod from a neon and using bondo.

What do you want to monitor? Most gauges (except volts) require a sending unit of sorts to be installed. This requires tapping into manifolds, exhaust pipes etc...
I do, here is an autometer gauge pod installed on a gen 4, fits good for my needs , sorry the pic sucks, it was taken quick, but if you need better i will be home from college at the end of the week and back to my car I have two carbon fiber autometer gauges in it i got new off of ebay- i got a voltmeter to measure all of my neon and sub levels on my batt. and an oil pressure to make sure i am good on oil levels... i didn't get an A/F since i don't think i am going sc/turbo anytime soon, and the readings i would get off of an A/F gauge wouldn't mean much to me since i don't tune... here is the crappy pic

take all of this into consideration for my anwser... i got the gauges and stuff over spring break, and i was only home for a week and out of town for some of that... basically i did a pretty boro instal and didn't even have time to hook the oil pressure up to the sender, the voltmeter is a 2 wire hook up-eazy breezy- but i will finish the oil pres. when i get home. The gauge pilar fits decent... i threw it on their fast, and there is a little bit of space showing- you can see in this other pic the grey from my real pilar, but if i paint that black it will look fine, also if i took it off and stretched it a little more, since it is plastic, it might fit...
when i get home, settle in, and do some stuff i will give you more of an update- i am happy with the fitment, the gauges look sweet imo, and yeah i know nobody has seen my car lately, at college i have not seen it either , but i have my springs/struts/carbon exhuast i am gonna put on the first week or so i get back and thus i will have some nice pics for all to seeeeeeeee

yeah, and as far as instal, i mean with the voltmeter and the oil perssure, the 2 wires that go to the bulbs for each, i just have connected together running to a couple of bulbs in my dash cluster... then my gauges light up when i have my factory gauges on

sounds good to me, thanks for all your help guys, im gonna get on this project right now, i gotta just find a place to get the pods, autometer has them for a camry, im thinking i might paint it to match the inside instead of leaving it black.
Ive also decided to get a volt meter and a air/fuel only cuz they are the easiest to install and dont need sending units ($$$)

I strongly advise that you get a gauge that is more useful than an A/F meter. Those things are nothing more than christmas lights for your car. Even a vacuum gauge would be better to tell you if any of your vacuum lines popped off.
Damn!! Those things look like ASS!! doesn't anybody make one that doesnt look like
2 90degree bends from iunder the sink glued to yer a pillar...or howbout offseting em a bit?? WOOF... im goona haveto make one from scratch fer myself if i ever get to that stage....
hmmm, an oil pressure gauge, how hard is that to install (sending unit)
i wanna be able to bang out this project on one shot on a sunday with my dad and not have to worry about not being able to complete something.... soo the easier the better
