Radio Problems

Hi everyone. I just became the owner of a 91 Camry LE V6 with only about 100k miles, and so far, I am very happy. However, there are some problems. One of those is the radio. When I turn the radio, I get no sound from any speakers. THe radio does turn on, I just get no sound. I didnt get a chance to pull out the headunit to check the connections, but that the first area I look at. Any other ideas as to where I should search for the problem?

PS: The speaker sizes in the car are 3.5in (front) and 5.25 (rear) correct. I have read conflicting info around and I figured I would make sure.

Im not to familiar with your gen of camry but i do know about systems. It sounds like the wiring is fu*ked, check your wiring harness, also take out one of your speakers and hook it up to a boom box or somethin just to make sure its not blown. I dont know about a 91 but in my 97 I had to bypass the internal amp, that might alos be your problem if you have one. but your best bet is to check your harness and wires. let me know what all you see and if you still need help I'll do my best to help you out.

Check the connections behind the deck and at the speakers.

You can use a DMM and check for continuity from the deck to the speakers. That'll tell you if theres a break in the wiring.

Correct.

However 6.5's will fit in the rear with some modifications.

if there is no sound coming out it is probably a malfunction within the radio itself... burnt out switch or relay or maybe the volume knob switch...

i'd get a new radio. start there... then you can worry about wiring if it doesnt work.
