Strut Question

Latley I've been hearing a clunk noise from my passenger rear side of my car, I thought it was things in my trunk bouncing around. I took everthing else out and its still going on. Im begining to think that the strut it done for. When ever I hit a bump in the road it clunks.....mabey its time for those new springs and struts. What do you guys think?

open up your hood and check that the three bolts on each of the struts are tight

i had the exact same problem, like a clunking noise from the rear...it turned out that the rear swaybar mount was loose and the swaybar was bouncing around when i went over bumps. i just tightened the bolt and that was it!

i had that clunking noise in my car, the front driver and passenger and it turned out i needed new strut mount, the guys said that on most camrys, the strut mounts wear out prematurely.

if you are going to replace the mounts they are about 40 bucks a piece. If you are a Gen 3 and you still have the stock struts it is prolly a good idea to replace those also. If your struts are stock then there is a possiblity that the struts will mess up the new mounts. Prepare to also have to replace the sway bar links cause mine were stock and they were really rusted so i had to break them to get them off. Those are like 50 bucks a piece. It sure is damn expensive to fix a cluncking.

A. I have strutmounts for sale cheap. PM me.

B. check your endlinks. Its more likely that one of the endlink bushings tore if its comming from the rear since the front strut mounts are the ones with the bearings in them.

Wait before you do anything.....

I had the same problem and it wasn't my struts at all. While your checking your struts check your Stabalizing bar and its bushings. I had also thought that my problem was from the struts but when I got the car up on a lift, I saw the stabalizing bar broken and the bushings missing.

The rear clunk noise on my car was due to very worn rear sway bar bushings. I replaced them with Energy Suspension polyurethane ones.
