The project begins

It started Thurs. with the oil change and the Synchromesh upgrade, today I continued the work/customization by redding out my taillights and taking the "condoms" off of the gauge bulbs in the dash. (Heads-up gen2 guys, there are roughly a dozen or so of the little fuckers in your gauges but only five of them have condoms- the four large green ones and the one that's gray (it's small).

The tails match up pretty well with the regular red on the tails, I'll try to get a pic up after I get them off of my camera. As for the gauges, I went out and somehow they are not quite white but slightly orange-ish when lit. Still a nice look, but I think I've got a bulb out... it's ok because I still have the stock gauge cluster in my basement

I also removed my strut tower bar for cleaning and painting (the end plates will be Ford blue, as is the DIY CAI); also, the entire engine is getting cleaned so it is one less thing in the way. As for the CAI, I got the pipe Friday from JC Whitney, and I've already measured off the pipe from the intake to the mass air. The rest I'm gonna have to get creative on.

Sorry it's long, but if it wasn't for this very forum I wouldn't have started any of this in the first place!

Steve

Check out the link in my sig, go to I think it's either page 2 or 3 and you'll see the red-out pics I took; only two, but I have more, and these should suffice. Pretty good match, don'cha think? I can truly say I have the only gen2 in my entire area with this customization!

Maybe, just maybe, it still looks a little orange in very bright light... but... it could also be you didn't use enough paint. I used four light to medium coats, how many did you use? Mine are blatantly red and match the rest of the lens beautifully.

Wow, you even did more than me... I just painted the amber and called it a day. (not that it was that easy lol and i had overspray all over the trunk Thank God for 3M rubbing compound lol) It looks as if you did plenty... I don't think you'll notice orange with the way it is done.

Steve

PS got a pic of that? Never seen it on a wagon but it's gotta look pretty good I'd imagine?

You might not need the disc.

If your running Windows XP, all you need is the driver for your digicam. XP has a built in scanner and camera wizard.

Most digicam manafacturers will have the drivers on their website available for download.
