For the past 4 years Ive been changing my oil every 3k miles. I think soon Im going to change to every 4k miles. The reason for the change in the change interval is I saw something on Quaker states website that says you could change at 4k now, since oil has improved.
id like to say that i change it every 2000 miles...but thats a lie...to be honest with you....i dont know how often my dad changed it....for as long as ive had the car, ive never had to change it myself...and thats been a year

try never to go past 3k. Actually going to start changing it myself now. Going to order a bunch of oilfilters online and recheck my oil strategy. Staying full synthetic.
3000 is the suggested change. Quakerstate is also a high perfomance (high price) brand that focuses on their synthetic brand. From my experience of Camrys over the years, they tend to run pretty dirty oil-wise. I would say every 2,500 if you can aford it. It is worth taking care of the car.
The best standard oil I have found is NAPA Premium (I get a case and a filter for $20). The stuff does wonders to bring back an older engine. I just hit 193,000 and it still runs like a dream

I'm due for an oil change soon (hit the 3k change mark last night) so I'm thinking this coming weekend (when I get some time) I'm going to pickup some Mobil 1 and a filter and do it myself.
Originally posted by lesnav I change mine every 3 months, so thats 4 times a year.
since I dont drive that much, I never reach 3000 miles within 3 months.
* does oil (atleast synthetic) get old? I mean, If I dont reach 3000 miles within 3 months. Can I not change it every 3 months?
I don't think it matters if you change it too soon, except for the fact that you won't be getting the most for your buck.
3k miles is said because generally your oil's dirty by then.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but people generally change oil not because of the age, but because it just plainly gets dirty.
I've been told that in case of a not very frequent use of a car, oil needed to be changed at least once a year, no matter about the mileage.
By the way do you all change oil filter at 3k as well ? I am used to change oil filter at 10,000 km (6,000 miles) only and oil every 5,000 km (3,000 miles)
