brake pad clips

What were to happen if I installed brake pads without the clips on the caliper bracket?

The pads would be loose.

You need the clips, shims, and springs.

Do you think this would set my ABS light on?

Don't know.

If your thinking about installing brake pads without all the hardware (clips, shims, and springs) don't do it.

Either do it right (with all the hardware) or don't do it at all.
