check to make sure first that you don't have the special toyota tranny fluid first...that stuff you're not supposed to have to change for 100000km or something

the ones that use regular dexron III though, just switch to synthetic and it'll do you good

Toyota probably recomends its own TIV fluid only - in your year model. Check the dipstick and owners manual. It says so on my own 2002 V6 - "use only TIV Toyota fluid, using other types may cause harsh shifting etc." I believe em, even though id use a synthetic if they made one - i'm not willing to play amateur ATF engineer on any of my own cars by ignoring Toyota advice.
